Begur Coves by Private Driver: Sa Tuna, Aiguablava and Sa Riera Pickup Planning

The three best-known beach areas around Begur are not three stops on one flat waterfront promenade. Sa Tuna, Aiguablava and Sa Riera sit in different coastal approaches below a hill town. For guests choosing a Begur coves private driver, the important decision is less 'Which beach looks best?' and more 'Where will everyone safely meet the vehicle after lunch or a swim?'

A private chauffeur can remove the need to locate parking at every beach, but does not create an exemption from road restrictions, parking rules or lawful pickup requirements. The most comfortable day starts with a clear meeting-point plan, not a claim of guaranteed door-to-sand transport.

This guide is about the transport handoff. For broader village sightseeing, the separate Begur, Pals and Peratallada driver itinerary covers a different day-planning problem.

First choose one cove, or at most two intentional stops

Begur's municipal tourism office identifies a varied coastline rather than one continuous resort beach. The locations work differently: Sa Tuna is a compact cove, Sa Riera offers a broader beach setting, and Aiguablava is a distinct southern coastal area. These are genuinely different visitor environments.

If your priority is a relaxing beach lunch, one cove can be sufficient. If you want a short look at a contrasting second location, plan it around an agreed departure time. Three coves plus a long restaurant lunch is usually a poor starting assumption, especially when a multi-generational group must regroup, change clothes or retrieve belongings.

Separate the destination decision from the transportation decision. A cove may be right for swimming yet inconvenient as the final collection point when guests are tired or carrying equipment.

Sa Tuna — compact and stony. The official Sa Tuna listing describes an approximately 80-metre cove with showers, parking and assisted-bathing facilities. Its small scale and winding approach make one agreed, lawful return meeting point particularly important.

Aiguablava — fine sand and family facilities. The municipal profile describes an approximately 80-by-40-metre bay with showers, toilets and accessibility services. These may help a beach-going family but do not prove that a private vehicle can collect guests at the waterline.

Sa Riera — a broader beach and more room to spread out. The official listing describes an approximately 230-by-75-metre beach with granular sand, restrooms and parking. A longer stay may mean more towels, gear and separated guests to gather before departure. Listed amenities can be seasonal and do not establish privileged chauffeur stopping.

Sa Tuna: compact waterfront, narrow approach and precise return

The official Sa Tuna page describes a small cove with former fishermen's houses and a winding approach. It lists pedestrian and car access, but that does not guarantee every vehicle can stop beside the beachfront at a requested time.

A pickup instruction saying only 'Sa Tuna beach' is inadequate. Record the actual public meeting point the chauffeur can lawfully reach, the expected walk from the restaurant or shore, and a contact number. If the vehicle cannot wait in position, a 'ready to meet' message before collection is more reliable than demanding continuous curbside presence.

Sa Tuna is most useful as a deliberate stop for a visit, swim or meal, not a rushed five-minute drive-through. The nearby coastal footpaths should be treated as walking activities, not vehicle-transfer shortcuts.

Aiguablava: plan around the group, not an assumed entrance handoff

Aiguablava attracts groups seeking a substantial beach stop, but the itinerary should still specify what the travelers intend to do, where they will be based during the visit and the realistic meeting point afterward. A chauffeur cannot know whether 'Aiguablava' means a beach access point, a restaurant or a nearby accommodation entrance.

Confirm whether the group will have beach bags, strollers, changing time or reservations. Do not name an exact parking or curb space unless current signs and the local operating circumstances support it. Restaurant booking time is not vehicle collection time. Build a short handoff margin for walking and regrouping.

Sa Riera: make a family or beach-gear pickup explicit

Sa Riera is among Begur's main beach areas and may be attractive for travelers who want more sand and room for a longer visit. That does not remove the need to plan the return for children, towels, bags and anyone with limited walking stamina.

For a family, specify the number of adults and children, ages where seating requirements matter, luggage or beach equipment, and a meeting point each adult can identify. A minivan name by itself does not establish actual passenger, equipment or approved child-seat capacity.

When guests will separate for lunch, swimming or walking, assign a single trip coordinator to confirm everyone is ready. This avoids multiple inconsistent pickup instructions.

Private driver versus the municipal summer beach bus

Begur's official How to Move page says the municipality normally runs a summer beach bus between the town center and Sa Riera, Sa Tuna and Aiguablava, usually during the June–September season. A linked 2026 timetable is available, but do not assume those exact dates or stops apply to a future season.

The bus is a sensible choice for visitors whose schedule and mobility fit a published route. A private chauffeur may better suit guests connecting from a rural villa, coordinating an appointment or managing multiple travelers with bags—but the chauffeur is not a substitute for checking lawful beach access and collection points.

Decision rule: choose the beach bus if the municipal timetable, stops and guest mobility already solve the problem. Choose a prearranged driver if the itinerary has an exact property pickup, flexible return needs or a complex group handoff. Neither option warrants an unsupported promise of 'direct beachfront access.'

Use the municipality's exact published season when comparing alternatives: Begur Town Council announced that its 2026 beach bus operated June 13 to September 13, connecting Begur town with Sa Riera, Sa Tuna, Fornells and Aiguablava. This is a 2026 historical service window, not a promise of the same dates or stops in 2027. Outside a confirmed bus period, plan another legal transport option rather than assuming the summer timetable is active.

Pickup decision matrix: the best plan is not always the longest

One cove, one return: strongest for a late beach lunch, younger children, a single confirmed swim stop or travelers who prefer not to move belongings repeatedly.

Sa Tuna plus Begur town: separates a coastal visit from an inland village stop and gives the day one clearly different second experience. Use a specific town meeting location and account for walking in the old center.

Two contrasting coves: works for travelers who expressly want both settings. Reserve time for a transfer and two independent legal pickup points. Make the second cove optional if the first visit runs long.

Three coves on a strict clock: highest handoff risk and weakest default for a premium unhurried day. Consider reducing the plan to two or using a sightseeing viewpoint only where stopping is permitted.

The seven details a travel advisor or family coordinator should supply

1. Exact starting address: a villa gate and a hotel's main entrance are different instructions. 2. Party composition: number of adults, children, mobility needs and any child restraint requirements. 3. Cove priority: nominate the one destination that must not be missed.

4. Booked times: give the restaurant or activity confirmation separately from proposed vehicle pickup. 5. Expected walking: tell us whether guests can manage slopes, steps and a walk from the lawful arrival area. 6. Items carried: towels, bags, stroller or sports gear change vehicle-fit considerations. 7. Return control: identify the person authorized to adjust the itinerary or confirm collection.

This is the Begur cove handoff brief. It turns 'take us around the beaches' into a plan a coordinator can actually communicate and review.

Avoid common return-day misunderstandings

A private vehicle is not an all-day parking entitlement. The chauffeur may need to stage legally away from the arrival area. Share a confirmed meeting location and a backup before leaving the vehicle.

A hotel address is not always a beach entrance. Guests staying in or around Begur should confirm where they expect to be collected at the end of the visit. The return stop need not be identical to the initial drop-off.

The coast's short map distances are not a promise of a short transfer. Road approaches, traffic, controlled access and walking change the actual handoff. Avoid quoting unsourced minute-by-minute transfers between these coves.

A beach day should have a weather alternative. Wind, sea conditions or a change in guest plans can make a Begur-town visit preferable. The alternative must be agreed within the booking terms, not invented after the chauffeur has left.

A workable return plan uses two meeting locations: the intended lawful collection point and an alternative the local operator confirms is reachable. If a cove approach becomes restricted or crowded, the trip coordinator tells every guest the same new meeting point, confirms walking tolerance and beach-bag loads, and alerts the driver before anyone starts toward the road. If the party splits up or asks to finish at a different villa or restaurant, the coordinator confirms the changed route with operations first; no unapproved additional stop or access privilege is implied.

A Begur cove day from a coastal hotel or inland villa

For a guest at a hotel in Llafranc, Calella de Palafrugell or Begur itself, a single booked coastal outing may be sufficient. A family based in a rural Empordà villa may need the service to include both the first property gate and the evening return. Those arrangements are different from a simple fixed-distance transfer.

Frequently asked questions about Begur cove transfers

Can a chauffeur wait directly outside Sa Tuna beach?

Not as a guaranteed entitlement. Lawful stopping, access and crowding vary. Agree a realistic public pickup point and a communication plan before the visit.

Is Sa Riera or Aiguablava easier with children?

Choose based on the family's beach needs, expected walking, facilities and belongings; do not infer pickup convenience merely from the cove's name. Confirm your specific arrival and return meeting points.

Can we see Sa Tuna, Sa Riera and Aiguablava in one day?

It may be physically possible, but often produces more movement than enjoyment. For a premium unhurried day, prioritize one cove or two carefully sequenced stops and leave the third optional.

Does Begur have a beach bus?

Yes, the municipality describes a seasonal service generally operating in summer and serving Sa Riera, Sa Tuna and Aiguablava. Confirm the actual timetable and dates for your travel year.

Will the private driver pick us up at a different cove?

That can be part of the requested itinerary only if the change is confirmed with the operator and a lawful, accessible meeting point is agreed. Do not assume the vehicle can reach any beachfront on demand.
